Mid-Century Scandinavian Sommerso Glass Vase by Vicke Lindstrand for Kosta, Sweden, 1960s

Signed sommerso glass vase designed by one of sweden's most known glass artist vicke lindstrand for kosta glassworks (sweden, 1960s). This beautiful vase is made of thick navy blue glass encased in pale grey layer and surrounded by transparent glass. It is extremely decorative. The base is incised with "kosta lh 1826". Height: 18 cm; width: 8 cm; depth: 5 cm. Weight: 1.3 kg. Excellent vintage condition. No chips, no cracks. Usual minimal scratches at the bottom. "sommerso" (italian for ''submerged'') is a technique developed in murano which became very popular in the 1950s-70s. The result is a glass with contrasting colours that is commonly cased by a clear layer.
