Beautiful oil painting portrait of a man by Carolus Tremerie (1858 - 1945). This portrait is dated "1915" lower left. Dimensions: 48 X 35.5 X 2 cm Carolus Tremerie is a Belgian painter of genre scenes, figures, landscapes and city views. He was a student of T. Canneel at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. In 1905, he won a gold medal in Liège. In an impressionist style, he painted mainly the beguinages and picturesque alleys of Ghent. Works preserved at the Museums of Fine Arts in Ghent and Antwerp (Belgium). Several small damages, a hole, dent, gaps in pictorial material with visible canvas, see the numerous photos. No frame. Possible paint retouching.
