Vintage pagoda-style lamp base, mid-century design. Glaze color: bright red. Immaculate condition. Purchased from an estate. Height with socket: 48 cm, height with shade: 82 cm. The lamp base likely originates from West German pottery production in the 1960s/70s – West German Pottery – the pagoda shape is stylistically attributed to the Space Age era – the characteristic glaze is from the Fat Lava era: the base is made of nuanced red glazed ceramic with lighter accents. Reminiscent of the creations of Hustadt Lampen or Dümler & Breiden Keramik – both known for their expressive mid-century lampworks. The base could also be of English origin. Royal Doulton is known for similar shapes. The lamp base was fitted by an electrician with a new socket, a cable with a switch, and a plug. The cable is made of high-quality bright red fabric with a slight sheen. The lamp has a new E27 socket and a double-insulated, two-phase cable – designed for connection up to 250 volts. Compatible with an E26 bulb and suitable for a 120 volt connection. The socket is brass-colored. A small chip on the ceramic has been repaired and repainted. The lampshade is handmade, designer, made of handmade marbled paper. Very translucent, beautiful play of colors, matches perfectly with the base. Dimensions of the lampshade: ø 30 X h 39 cm.
