A vase from the 1950s, produced by the Železný Brod glassworks in Czechoslovakia, is an example of mid-century modern art glass. Its organic form with elongated proportions and sculptural, asymmetrical 'wings' draws attention with a soft colour transition: from a transparent surface to a warm, subtly muted pink at the base. The glass is smooth and highly glossy, with the thickness of the lower part and protrusions accentuating the intensity of the colour, which gently fades towards the slender neck. The construction reveals hand-forming – precisely finished edges and a perfectly clean, time-untouched surface. No signs of use, chips or cracks – the vase is in excellent vintage condition, with no need for restoration or repair. This vase tells the story of 1950s modernity, when fascination with natural shapes and colour experimentation set the direction for Czechoslovak design. The shimmering transparent glass creates a poetic dialogue between light and colour; the pink tones play on the edge of subtlety, as if the piece wanted to capture a moment in the morning light streaming through a modernist living room window. With its elongated wings, it suggests movement, softness and the breath of an era unafraid to seek new forms of expression. The vase can be displayed solo on a console or low table to highlight its sculptural lines. It works well as a central accent against a neutral wall, accompanied by books or ceramics from the same period. It can be paired with minimalist lighting, chrome or glass in other tones – then the glass form gains additional depth and brings out the nostalgic elegance of 1950s modernism. It will fit both mid-century spaces and collector's, eclectic arrangements full of contrasting textures.
