Two character chairs from the great era of French and Austro-Hungarian bentwood, the time of gas-lit cafés, lively brasseries, and bourgeois salons of the Belle Époque. The backrest, a true stylistic signature: an oval openwork medallion with three interlocking pointed arches, featuring organic and sensual curves typically Art Nouveau. A rare and highly decorative shape, reminiscent of the heyday of Thonet design and its contemporaries. Curved cabriole front legs, rounded bentwood crossbars, double stretcher — a robust construction that has withstood over a century without faltering. Both chairs bear an engraved stamp under the seat with the circular logo "RMA", a period manufacturer's mark. The two seats differ slightly from each other — one with original perforated wood, the other with solid wood and small border nails, indicating an old restoration. This detail reflects their true history and does not affect their sturdiness.
