Elegant oval serving dish in Louis XV style, with a scalloped edge, made of grand feu faience from Martres-Tolosane (Haute-Garonne), 19th century. A heron stands at the centre, on a mound of herbs, surrounded by flowering branches and small crosses. A frieze of foliage enhanced with manganese runs along the wing. The entire piece is hand-painted in shades of green on a cream-white background, in the style of Moustiers faience. On the reverse, a hand-painted green cross, with an unidentified workshop mark. In very good condition for its age. There are traces of kiln supports on the reverse, evidence of firing, and a few small firing pinholes in the glaze. Minor chips and signs of use on the reverse of the rim, without aesthetic concern (see photos). No hairline cracks or fractures. A beautiful dish to place on a table, hang on a wall, or pair with other antique faience. Not suitable for the dishwasher. Dimensions: 33 X 3 X 26 cm. Careful packaging.
