Antique octagonal plate in blue and white pottery with bird decoration.

Charming antique plate in glazed earthenware with cobalt blue decoration on a white background, featuring a bird at the centre surrounded by stylised floral motifs. Beautiful octagonal shape with a beaded edge. Decoration in the style of Delftware, probably a French, Belgian, or Dutch production from the 19th century. The piece shows a lovely old patina with enamel crazing and visible old repairs with metal staples on the back, typical of period restorations. These so-called "staple" repairs reflect the attachment to the object and today add a lot of charm and authenticity. The reverse also bears a small workshop or painter's mark. Perfect for wall decoration, in a country kitchen, a wabi-sabi interior, or an antique earthenware collection. Dimensions: 32 X 27 X 4 cm.
