Rare Kotel Kilim "Tree of Life" Vintage Peach Background - 208 x 118 cm

Rare and of absolute poetry. I am offering for sale this superb vintage kilim originating from the famous weaving school of Kotel (Bulgaria), measuring 208 X 118 cm. Acquired in the early 1990s, it displays a mythical pattern that is highly symbolic against a peach/pastel background of exceptional rarity for this type of Balkan textile. A vibrant textile artwork: The central field is rhythmically adorned with two large stylised "Trees of Life" that rise elegantly. At the heart of the branches, the sacred fauna of Kotel comes to life: one can discover silhouettes of white birds symbolising fertility and connection, as well as a magnificent little turquoise peacock nestled near the geometric crenellated border. Technical characteristics & Condition: • Material: 100% pure dense and heavy wool. • Weaving: Extremely tight, robust traditional flat weave, fully reversible. • Condition: Overall very beautiful vintage condition. The fringes and borders are well preserved. Note: a discreet mark of local use attests to its authentic history and retro charm, without altering the solidity or visual splendour of the piece.
