Old Biedermeier mirror, circa 1830

Antique Biedermeier cherry wood veneered mirror, South Germany, circa 1830. Restored by adding missing pieces to both sides of the cornice and the right side of the base, the whole refinished and polished by hand with shellac. The rest has been preserved in its patina: a gap under the mirror's base, slight detachments of the mounting on the top and bottom sides, without major damage. A very pitted period mirror, but with as much charm as an ancient manuscript: this tin, dotted with meanders in its hollow, evokes the mysteries of a parchment... We admire the finesse of its narrow lines, which are perfectly suited to small spaces. Dimensions: 39.5 X 85.5 X 6.5 cm.
