Marc CHAGALL (1887-1985) Benjamin and the Divine Flower, 1962. Lithograph (Mourlot Workshop) Unsigned. On Vellum, 32.5 X 24 cm. INFORMATION: Lithograph created by Chagall in 1962 for the portfolio "Stained Glass Windows of Jerusalem, " published by Sauret. This portfolio retraces Chagall's work on the twelve stained-glass windows designed for the synagogue of the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem. Benjamin was the thirteenth and youngest child of Jacob and the second and youngest son of his wife Rachel. This name is the origin of the common noun "benjamin, " which refers to the last child of a family. The tribe of Benjamin is one of the twelve tribes of Israel, descended from this son of Jacob. Excellent condition.
