Curved lacquered commode with Chinese decoration from the early 20th century. It opens at the front with two wide drawers without a crossbar, highlighted by an elegant scalloped apron. The whole rests on four curved legs. Very beautiful Japonisme decor on a nuanced brown background, depicting flowering branches, peonies, foliage, and birds, continuing on the sides. The front is adorned with significant gilded bronze ornamentation in the rococo style: foliage handles, lock entry, central drop, and feet. The top features a wavy edge following the curves of the piece. This commode is appealing due to its particularly rich and decorative decor, in the style of European furniture inspired by Chinese and Japanese lacquers. Period: 20th century, Louis XV style. Overall good condition with wear, small chips, and visible lacquer accidents, particularly on the top and edges, consistent with the age of the piece and visible in the photographs.
