This large and architecturally imposing coffee table is a bold expression of French decorative modernism at its peak in the 1970s, a period that embraced chrome as a luxury material defining contemporary interiors. The generous rectangular shape—measuring over 123 centimetres in length—is supported by a chrome structure, with the curved end supports introducing an elegant organic element into what could have been an entirely linear composition. The two-level arrangement plays a studied chromatic counterpoint: the upper transparent glass top allows for visual transparency through the table, while the lower black lacquered glass top adds both visual weight and a dramatic tonal contrast with the polished chrome.
