Historical oak chest from 1748 with iron fittings
A historic chest made of solid oak and a sought-after collector’s item. Chests like this were made in the 18th century and often served as wedding gifts. They originated on the Lower Rhine and in the historic region of “Grafschaft,” in what is now the Ahrweiler district. The front of this chest stands out for its elaborate, deeply carved geometric patterns and floral motifs, as well as the clearly visible carved date “1748” and the initials “D F.” Inside are two small, separate compartments on the sides for storing valuables. The chest is fitted with finely forged iron hardware. The key and part of the lock are missing, so the lid can no longer be locked. exceptional craftsmanship high-quality materials Made in Niederrhein, Germany Condition & Dimensions: This piece has been carefully cleaned.
