Large German metal box, e. Otto schmidt lebkuchenfabrik nürnberg, gingerbread boxes from the 1930s 30'. The decoration of this box consists of a dark brown surface with golden colored details. On the lid and sides are representative scene of the era. The bottom of the box is marked "lebkuchenfabrik e. Otto schmidt nurnberg". Lebkuchen, or pfefferkuchen, is a traditional German baked Christmas treat, somewhat similar to gingerbread. These are generally offered for Christmas. It's a tradition in Nuremberg.
