This lithograph “Aspects of Nature - The Cliff” is signed Henri Rivière and has a red stamp in the bottom right corner, with the printer's stamp in the bottom left. We note a tear in the margin at the bottom right (5.5 cm), a loss at the top, ink lines, small stains, and yellowing of the paper. On the lithograph, the end of the tear in the margin at the bottom, with small stains in places. The colours are perfect; once framed, these defects will be less visible. We have taken as many photos of the defects as possible for you to assess the condition. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) was a French painter, engraver, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing, then moved to soft-ground etching, specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he started a career as a director and set designer in 1886, for shadow theatre at the Chat Noir cabaret, enhancing performances with innovative colour backdrops. He then dedicated himself exclusively to painting and engraving, making a mark in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolour (he painted around a thousand watercolours).
