Magnificent "RAR" rocking chair by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller, 1950s. It is now a true design icon, alongside the famous lounge chair, recognized for its aesthetic and functional appearance. Designed and produced just after "La Chaise" (1948). Unable to be mass-produced at the time for economic reasons, the couple kept their original ideas. Black-tinted fiberglass shell, fully upholstered with leather covering, metal rod base and birch glides. Rare fiberglass configuration with leather covering. Not found on the market. Label under the seat which suggests that the chair was produced between 1957 and 1989. Very good condition, this remains a vintage product and may show signs of use. A pair may be available.
