The special feature of this coffee table lies mainly in the details. The elongated top may seem simple at first glance, but the gently rising edges, rounded corners, and slender base give the table a different play of lines from every angle. The table was made in Denmark in the 1960s by Glostrup Møbelfabrik, designed by Grete Jalk. Her designs are known for their clear construction and refined handling of wood, which come together beautifully in this table. The top is made of teak veneer and finished all around with solid teak parts. The long sides subtly rise and become finer towards the corners, giving the relatively large top a light, almost floating appearance. The warm grain of the teak remains calm and forms a nice contrast with the sculptural edge. Under the top runs an open shelf of narrow teak slats, a practical detail for magazines and books, but above all a visually interesting part of the construction. The shelf connects the four round, tapered legs and emphasizes the low horizontal lines of the design. We have completely renovated the table in our workshop. Old finishes have been carefully removed, the wood restored, and refinished with a high-quality matte furniture oil. The warm color and natural grain of the teak are beautifully brought out again. The table is in very neat vintage condition and ready for years of use. With purchase, we provide a bottle of maintenance oil and matching instructions to keep the furniture in optimal condition.
