COD 11547. An important Italian painting from the mid-18th century. Oil on canvas artwork depicting a charming landscape animated by peasant figures and animals by a stream. A painting of remarkable pictorial quality, it features a refined perspective construction that draws the eye toward a hilltop village dominated by a tower. The lively scene features a young female figure flanked by wayfarers and herds, in a narrative balance typical of 18th-century northern Italian painting. The painting reveals clear affinities with the work of Francesco Antoniani (1700-1775), particularly in its spatial arrangement and the fusion of landscape and genre scene (the painting is not currently accompanied by an expert opinion, but one can be requested upon payment of the relevant additional costs). From 1743, he served the House of Savoy, becoming a key figure in the decoration of Piedmontese royal residences. He was renowned for his landscapes, seascapes, and architectural capricci, and his technique is characterized by lively brushstrokes and refined plays of light. This painting is part of a companion piece (see photo and request a price for the pair if still available). A painting of great decorative impact and rare elegance, ideal for refined, classic or contemporary settings. The spectacular 19th-century frame is made of finely carved and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. The work has already been restored with re-lining, replacement of the stretcher, and repainting in small areas. Overall, it is in good condition. Internal dimensions: H 89 X W 100.5 cm.
