Small coffee table, circa 1955. Robert Mathieu. Robert Mathieu is best known for his lighting, but he also designed glass tables that play with light: glass, perforated and openwork sheet metal (like Mathieu Matégot), and a wire metal frame. Black lacquered tubular frame. Trapeose frosted glass top (secured by four brass cabochons). Black perforated sheet metal magazine rack. Architectural design forms of the 1950s. A rare and elegant piece. The aging of the glass has created two internal imperfections, but these do not affect the integrity of the glass top. Height: 37.5 cm - Length: 93 cm - Width: 43.5 cm.
