Louis XVI style pediment mirror in gilded wood – 19th century - H118c

Succumb to the timeless charm of this magnificent 19th-century pediment mirror, in the Louis XVI style. Its richly carved frame in wood and gilded stucco is distinguished by a spectacular pediment adorned with a ribbon bow, a crown of roses, and crossed torches. The vertical and horizontal uprights simulate carved wooden crosspieces with friezes of flowers and foliage, elegantly intersecting at the corners. Condition: The mirror is in its original state, which adds to its charm and attests to its authenticity. The original bevelled glass is superb, aged with beautiful traces of mercury that give it a unique poetry. The original backing is sound and complete. There are a few minor losses and logical wear to the gilding due to age (see photos), enhancing its superb patina.
