Art Deco fireplace mirror in light oak. Mercury glass.

Very beautiful Art Deco fireplace mirror (1930s) in light oak with its original mercury glass. The frame is typically Art Deco with its stylised floral motifs engraved directly into the solid wood. The pediment has a discreet movement and features two half-loops that wrap around the sides. While the style is clearly defined, it remains very understated and controlled. The side posts are moulded and slightly rounded on the sides, and there is a lovely strip above the lower plinth. The glass is fully bevelled and period, with its typical reflection and rare blemishes that attest to its age. However, it is perfectly bright and usable on a daily basis beyond its decorative aspect. The back is panelled and features a small hanging hook. This is indeed a standalone Art Deco mirror, which is much less common than detached furniture tops, as is often found from this period. H: 107 cm. W: 67 cm. Thickness: 3 cm.
