Set of 5 old plates in pink bubbled glass - Artisanat Biot 19cm

This superb set of 5 plates is made from old blown glass. These plates are made of glass in a delicate old pink color. They are mouth-blown using an artisanal technique and are therefore irregular. The border is hemmed - the trace of the blowing cane is visible on the back. Bubbled glass captures light differently and has a soft, delicate texture. There are 2 soup plates and 3 flatter and smaller plates. Perhaps from biot or from an artisanal glassworks: bubbled glass has made biot glassworks famous since 1956, the glassmakers succeed in controlling the bubble, trapping it between two layers of glass, thus making a defect a quality. It is an ancestral technique, known to southern glassmakers. In good condition, these plates measure between approximately 18.5 and 19.5 cm in diameter. They are not signed and have defects (burst bubbles, elongated bubbles).
