A very beautiful pair of stoneware bowls signed by the Danish ceramist Frede Damgaard from Ebeltoft. A fine example of vintage Scandinavian ceramics, probably from the 1970s-1980s, where the simplicity of the shape allows the material and the nuances of the glaze to take centre stage. The exterior, in very light almost ivory clay, retains a raw and matte appearance. The interior contrasts beautifully with a deep glaze in shades of brown, tobacco, chocolate, and black. In the centre, the concentric marks from the turning create a graphic decoration reminiscent of a pupil or an eye, making each of the two pieces slightly different and unique. Both bowls bear the stamp underneath their base: FREDE DAMGAARD – EBELTOFT – 2. Dimensions: Ø 11 cm × H 3.2 cm. In excellent condition, with no cracks or chips. Some irregularities in the material and shaping testify to their handcrafted production. A lovely pair to use as catchalls, jewellery holders, or simply as decorative objects in a Scandinavian, vintage, wabi-sabi, or brutalist interior.
