The presented fruit basket comes from Germany from the early 20th century, made of chromed brass and glass. The round, open form is decorated with Art Nouveau, openwork cutouts in the metal, typical of Jugendstil, which add visual lightness. The movable handle with linear perforations is attached to the body with slender rivets, indicating precise, handmade craftsmanship. The interior of the basket is filled with a removable glass insert with a smooth surface and delicate profile; its central element is a colourful transfer motif – a round black and white wreath with a composition of flowers (mainly red roses and green leaves, with accents of yellow and blue). The rim of the basket and the feet show no separate connections or decorations other than the perforations. The colour scheme is based on matte-silver chrome with local discolourations and natural patina. The glass insert has minor chips on the edge, and the metal surface shows small scratches, typical for authentic objects from this era. Preserved in good condition – with minor coolings and small glass losses that do not affect usability. The form of this basket subtly tells the atmosphere of Art Nouveau salons at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, when applied art drew from nature and geometry. The metal openwork and fluid lines evoke associations with architectural details of German cities – times when ornament was to accompany everyday life without excess. The cool light reflecting on the satin surface of the chromed brass intertwines with the delicate pattern of the floral wreath, as if the basket still remembers breakfasts and meetings from past decades. It leaves an impression of discreet elegance, where decorativeness combines with the restraint of material and form. The basket is worth placing in the living room as a central fruit bowl on a sideboard or table with light-coloured wood. It will fit well in interiors combining classic eclecticism with Art Nouveau elements, but also in modern spaces where the chromed surface breaks the austerity of the background.
