Okulus vase from the 1970s, produced by HSG Ząbkowice, is a prime example of Polish pressed glass representing the mid-century modern aesthetic. The form is cylindrical, gently narrowing towards the base, made of transparent glass in a cool, light blue, pastel shade – the colour is uniform and ethereal. The surface is shaped by dynamic vertical grooves that gently flow towards the base and intertwine with geometric, faceted motifs reminiscent of crystal structures. The faceting creates a prism effect, dispersing light on the tabletop, while the slightly thickened base ensures stability and maintains the same monochromatic tone. The vase features a shiny finish, free from additional paintings or colour accents. The vase shows no signs of age: no chips, cracks, or dullness – preserved in very good collector's condition, without any restoration interventions. Okulus seems to speak with the voice of Polish modernism of the late 1970s, drawing inspiration from the desire to find expression within the constraints of serial production. The pressed texture, organic indentations, and cool sheen tell of a fascination with the light entering the Silesian glassworks, where every sculpted surface worked for the effect of light and shadow play. The vase, even without flowers, attracts attention like a rock washed by water – it captures movement, emphasises the cinematic rhythm of light, without overwhelming the interior. In a modern living room or on a minimalist console, the vase can be displayed solo – against fabrics in light or subdued colours – or complemented with a single branch or an ascetic bouquet. It is also suitable as a detail on a massive wooden table; it will stand out in mid-century modern arrangements, especially when paired with ceramics in soft colours or lighting with milky shades. For more decisive interiors, it is good to combine it with black accessories to bring out the varied lighting of the sculpted surface. No detailed technical data; the vase made of pressed glass does not require special care – it is recommended to clean it with a soft, slightly damp cloth to maintain the shine and transparency of the material. No data on dimensions or weight.
