Mahogany Cartonnier Desk, Directoire period – Early 19th century

Directoire desk opening with three identical drawers in the belt. These are equipped with functioning locks with a skeleton key and a circular bronze entry. The tapered legs end in simple sabot feet. The perimeter of the desk features brass strips that also highlight the belt and the drawer fronts. The opposite side of the desk is fitted with three false drawers. The top of this piece is covered with thick leather with a gilded vignette. This desk has the unique feature of being composed of a curtain cabinet revealing niches and a drawer, adding functionality and originality to this piece of furniture. ******** Period: Early 19th century.
