This hand-crafted mosaic table with a mesmerizing geometrical pattern successfully blends post-modernist pastel softness and shiny metallic accents with a mid-century modern form and shape. Resting on T-shaped metal legs and framed by a shiny metal band, the mosaic top of this coffee table consists of rectangular ceramic inlays in three green tones ranging from petroleum to sage green, which have been arranged to form an alluring central pattern. This is contrasted by smaller black and green ceramic pieces which follow no patterns, lending the central pattern extra depth and texture. While there are no maker's marks, this table probably hails from Germany in the 1970s, where the acclaimed artists and mosaicists Berthold Müller and Heinz Lilienthal both produced ceramic mosaic tables to great international acclaim. This table is most reminiscent of their works. The table is in very good condition with no tiles missing or chipped. The metal has retained its shine. We think this would make a most suitable pool-side or terrace table but it would also work very well as a lounge table, adding a colourful accent to its setting.
