This 1950s vice clamp lamp was made in the french workshops of the famous designer ferdinand solère (hence its "sol-r" mark present at many points, attesting to its authenticity). This very versatile lamp was fixed on architects' drawing tables or on workbenches in workshops. This model is probably a prototype given its globe bearing the mark but not listed in all the period sales catalogs that we were able to consult during our research. This example has been completely dismantled, restored and re-electrified with a black cotton-silk wire of italian manufacture. Its brass switch is of the "water drop" shape. It works with a bayonet led bulb provided. The vice clamp can be easily fixed on a table or desk with a top of 5.3 cm maximum thick. Its general condition is excellent; this lamp simply bears the patina of time since it was neither repainted nor transformed during its restoration - which gives it its historical character from the beginning of the industrial era.
