An original antique desk lamp of pressed steel with original bronzed lacquer finish, with restrained Art Nouveau / Jugendstil curlicue styling to the base, finished with a period satinated glass shade. The lamp is switched at the base with a black ceramic knob, and is articulated both at the base of the stem, which can go up and down, and at the base of the lamp-holder, which rotates. It was made in Germany, c.1920 or thereabouts. The lamp has been dismantled, cleaned and rewired with a good length of premium Italian 3-core double-insulated cable with a vintage-look mottled grey linen braid, and an earth tag concealed within the lamp’s body to bring it up to modern safety standards whilst retaining the original lamp-holder. The lamp accepts a single B22 bayonet cap bulb. The base is marked with a D.R.G.M. (German registered design) number, 971461. Some rubbing to the original bronze-effect lacquer, particularly to the front edge, and a bit of a wobble to the ceramic switch (but it’s secure), but otherwise is in good, clean and fully working order – ready to place and use. *Ships from the UK*.
