A rare and very imposing bedside table, perfect as a side table in a living room or entryway. It is made of blond mahogany (or walnut) veneer and was traditionally crafted around 1900 (it can be compared to work from the Faurbourg St Antoine). Beautifully crafted, it rises to a height of 90 cm on its beautiful arched legs adorned with lovely plant motifs carved into the wood. Above, a marble top is free of cracks and missing pieces, framed by a small cornice. Above, it opens with a drawer mounted in a dovetail pattern, of course, and with a front decorated with thick moldings that are also found on the drawer below. The drawer tilts forward, revealing the marble-clad area (top, bottom, and sides) that was used to hold the chamber pot at the time. The marble is a little dirty but again without flaws or missing pieces. There's a slight lack of veneer on the inside edge of the door. The door closes with these wonderful little brass clips that produce an addictive sound every time you use it. It is inlaid on the sides, presentable from every angle, and in excellent overall condition. A beautiful, rare piece in this size. H: 90 cm. W: 44 cm. D: 44 cm. Marbled area: 24 X 32 X 20 cm. The price is firm, thank you. Delivery available to the Paris region and ground floor only for 40 euros.
