ARBEY is a legendary furniture brand. Launched in the 19th century, it specialises in the manufacture of furniture around 1900, particularly office furniture. Located on the famous Boulevard St Antoine in Paris (with its workshops in Pré St Gervais), ARBEY sells its furniture under the name AU VIEUX NOYER. Their superb office cabinets are sought after for their design and quality. On the other hand, productions from the "Cosy Corner Arbey" collection are much rarer. It consists of "rustic and modern" furniture that "adapts to all interiors." In fact, it is a classic production known as "du Faubourg," meaning furniture styles made according to the rules of the art. Our bedside table is made of solid walnut and speckled marble. The marble has been chipped on the left corner of the back and restored. It is now solid and perfectly functional but retains the slightly bothersome traces of its accident (see photo). It opens with a small drawer as well as a pivoting door that catches thanks to its brass latch, producing a very satisfying little "click." The interior is lined with marble, as a chamber pot was placed there. Very elegant and of excellent quality, it also has a few small nicks at the bottom right of the pivoting door. A part of a strip has also been restored previously. But it's on the back, so it’s not visible. When turned over, one finds its identity card: "AU VIEUX NOYER - Furniture - A. ARBEY, Paris. 8à Faubourg St Antoine." A mark of quality, a vector of history, this stamp from the Faubourg is always a bit moving, especially on such an uncommon model from the Arbey range. H: 75 cm. W: 37 cm. D: 25 cm. The price is firm, thank you. Delivery in Île-de-France for 40 euros.
