A chamberstick from the early 20th century, made by Plewkiewicz in Warsaw, fits into the eclectic trend typical of European metropolises of that era. The base is made of brass covered with a layer of silver – the cool colour of the metal, sometimes satin and subdued, shows traces of patina, discolouration, and natural oxidation. The shape of the candlestick is stable and compact thanks to a wide, gently sloping base. The centrally placed stem takes a simple, cylindrical form, while the functional handle with a fanciful decorative line refers to the decorative tendencies of the time. The connections between the handle and the base are made with metal rivets, emphasising the solid craftsmanship typical of the era. The entire item shows signs of its original, unrestored condition: visible darkening, discolouration, and subtle surface matting. The chamberstick has not been restored in modern times – it has retained its authentic patina and finish, which are a clear sign of the object's historical character. Preserved in good condition, with a clearly visible patina and typical signs of age. The form of the chamberstick reflects the unhurried Warsaw at the turn of the century – when style changes intertwined with the search for functionality and restrained decoration. The silver-plated surface, bearing traces of touch and evening light, quietly tells of domestic rituals of past decades: the subdued metal attracts the eye, and the original patina suggests respect for the passage of time. The ornament of the handle profile maintains a ceremonial distance, combining eclecticism with the nostalgia of old Warsaw tenement houses. This type of candlestick can be used on a console in the living room – it will display beautifully both solo and next to old ceramics or framed graphics. It can be combined with other metal details of the era or set against darker surfaces, which will emphasise the subtle nuances of the patina. It will also work well in a classic study, in an eclectic or history-inspired interior, where it will become a silent witness to everyday life and evening reflections.
