Centimeter rug by Eileen Gray contemporary Ecart International edition Eileen gray not only created some of the most important classic furniture of the 20th century, but she also had her own workshop where the carpets were produced according to her designs: masterpieces of abstract textile art made of 100% pure virgin wool, hand-knotted and treated with the highest quality. Designed for the salon of villa e1027, the centimetre rug highlights the number 10 with a mysterious code - a nod to the tenth letter of the alphabet: j for jean badovici, with whom she designed the villa house by the sea e1027. Numbers and icons – like fragmentary elements of everyday objects – are found in eileen gray's carpet designs from the late 1920s. These are allusions to his vast interests encountered in his creative life. Carpet 100% pure wool. Colored with natural plant dyes. Hand-knotted with 80 knots per square inch (12.5 cm²).
