Painted Folk Art Bridal Cupboard

Extraordinary bridal cupboard made of pine dating from 1828, although the crest also has a date of 1838 on it. This cupboard is simply designed but is beautifully painted with a wood and marble motif, and very romantic decorations in the panels. The upper panels feature religious inscriptions and flowers, where the lower panels show a village/city scene. This copy has been restored at some point and is still in very good condition considering its age with minimal signs of wear. The cupboard has a well-functioning lock with key and is equipped with shelves, drawer and rod on the inside. You can easily add more shelves if desired. In the past, it was customary to give bridal furniture like this as a gift to the couple at a wedding. This furniture was subsequently placed on the farm in a stately room that was only rarely used for high-ranking visitors or special occasions. A beautiful and decorative piece of history.
