The 222 chair is the work of the french architect robert mallet-stevens (1886-1945), famous for his modernist style. A similar version appears in a photo of the kitchen of the villa cavrois, in croix near lille, designed by mallet-stevens and delivered in 1932. It was rediscovered in the 1980s, notably thanks to reissues by the company ecart international, studio founded by andré putman to preserve the “trace” (anagram of deviation) of furniture from the past. This suite of 4 chairs dates from this period. The structure is made of innovative steel tube for the 1930s and black lacquered metal and they can be stacked. Stamped on the inside. Seat height 45 cm edition: ecart italy circa 1978.
