It belongs to the series "vineyards of tuscany" In the 1960s, the gallerist and publisher dieter brusberg counted arnold leissler as one of the. "young german printmakers", which included bernhard jäger, reiner schwarz and jan voss, among others. Leissler had his first solo exhibition of his recent works in brusberg’s gallery in 1964, after he had reached. In brusberg’s words - a vegetative state. Leissler’s love for the mediterranean, and italy in particular, can often be seen in his pictures and prints. (leissler held a gropius stipend in florence and received the rome award of the villa massimo in 1968). Hence his female figures often revel in mediterranean surroundings. The lithograph is in perfect condition and is framed in its original frame. It measures 62 cm wide, 47.5 cm high and 2 cm deep. This text was written by leissler himself: "i first dealt with the subject of 'vineyards' during a longer stay in provence in the fall of 1960. Seen from an abandoned farmhouse, gently sloping rows of vines reached close to the bed of the durance river; accompanied of irregularly planted olive and cypress trees.this "provençal landscape" was my first abstract work.in it, both the plan and the view of a landscape are presented at the same time, their components are analyzed and extracted into a new formulation of landscape. Half a year later I lived for a long time in tuscany, whose landscapes are repeatedly crossed by vineyards or vine crops and give them a very special structure and liveliness, which, as you can see, still attracts me a lot today.".
