Exceptional mid-century Charles & Ray Eames DKR-2 chair, featuring the highly sought-after original Alexander Girard upholstery from the 1960s. This is a rare early version, with the exact same Girard fabric as documented in Eames: 1000 Chairs (Taschen). The chair was originally purchased by the first owner in the 1950s/60s, including both the wire bases and the iconic “bikini” upholstery. A provenance detail that adds to their historical and collector value. The chrome bases show visible rust and corrosion, particularly to the lower sections, consistent with age and use, and contributing to their authentic vintage character. The upholstery shows signs of wear and no longer contains filling, in line with their age. Structurally sturdy, visually striking. A true museum, worthy eye-catcher and a rare opportunity for serious Eames collectors or lovers of iconic mid-century design. Perfect as a statement piece in a vintage or modern interior. Charles Eames (1907–1978) and Ray Eames (1912–1988) were among the most influential designers of the twentieth century. Their work, including the legendary Eames House (Case Study House #8) in Los Angeles, continues to define modern design.
