Old indian bridal chest carved in solid wood. The damchiya was the traditional chest containing the dowry that the indian bride took with her to live with her husband. It was made at the request of the bride's family, in anticipation of the wedding. Each piece is therefore unique. This damchiya is special! It overflows with latus (which means spinning top in hindi), the wooden tassels found on some damchiyas. Usually there is a pair or even four (under the carved horses), but here there are thirty! Another peculiarity are the two large gates, while the damchiyas often have much smaller doors. Finally, note the meticulous work of sculpting the feet. An exceptional, rare, old (more than 80 years) and practical piece! This is a vintage piece, second-hand, traces of use are present, which contributes to its uniqueness and charm.
