Pastel artwork signed, provenance from the artist's studio: Edouard E.C. Pannetier (1884-1965): see attached bio. Good condition (signs of folding and wear: all visible in photos). Provenance: artist's family. Dimensions: 20 / 88 cm. Edouard Pannetier (1884-1965): Edouard-Emmanuel-Charles Pannetier, Provençal painter and orientalist, was born on November 6, 1884, in Clermont-Ferrand (Auvergne). Orphaned of his father, he began his artistic studies at the School of Fine Arts in his hometown and then at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris. Trained as a drawing teacher, he worked for a few years in Algeria at the Lamoricière high school in Oran between 1910 and 1920. Upon returning to France, he worked as a drawing teacher at the high school in Aix-en-Provence around 1930. He painted numerous landscapes and genre scenes from Algeria and Provence. Additionally, he illustrated several literary works, notably highlighting the novel “Atala” by Chateaubriand in its 1946 edition. He passed away in Rueil-Malmaison, near Paris, on October 14, 1965, at the age of 80.
