Mid-Century Modern "City Stroll" Vintage Swedish Cityscape Street Scene Oil Painting, Framed

A very pleasant modernist oil street scene composition, painted by the established swedish artist stig wernheden (1921-1997), whose works have been represented at public collections in sweden including the moderna museet, malmö museum, snuff & match museum, ystad art museum and malmö city hall. The painting features a scenic and charming city surrounded by lush greenery. In the foreground, a group of figures are depicted on a pathway walking towards the city. Painted with a modernist ethos, the artist reconstructed the buildings into flat blocks of contrasting colours to create a sense of space and depth. The painting evokes a soothing and relaxing quality, brought through the use of soft and precise brushstrokes, as well as a gentle palette of predominant cool light tones. This oil on canvas is housed in a very well-suited wood frame with an inner silver window that pairs wonderfully with the painting. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
