A glass vase designed by Josef Hospodka for a Czech glassworks, created in the 1960s, showcases classic mid-century modern design. The organic form, composed of fluid, asymmetrical lines, rises to gently undulating edges, with a distinctly sculptural geometry. The body is in an intense cobalt blue, fading towards a transparent base, revealing the thickness and clarity of the glass. The highly polished surface, free from visible joints and embellishments, is enriched with pronounced, plastic protrusions and indentations, emphasizing biomorphic inspiration. Three massive, rounded feet made of clear glass give the vase stability and natural integrity. No decorative fittings or additional decorative layers. Condition is very good – the surface is free from chips, cracks, and repair marks, retaining its original shine. The vase speaks the language of the 1960s – an era when Czech glass became a field of formal experimentation and the search for new means of expression. Its dynamic form and rich color evoke glass as a plastic, almost living medium, creating light and color. Each line seems like a frozen wave of movement, and the glass's shine recalls the movement of daylight reflecting on the surface – as if each day brings a new story captured in the substance. The vase can be placed on a console or sideboard in the living room, where light – both natural and artificial – will highlight not only the color but also the dynamic sculptural finish. It pairs well with other mid-century glass accents or alongside veneered or teak furniture, complementing its artistic expression. In collector arrangements, it can serve as a central point or as part of a larger composition of Czechoslovakian design objects. For care, a soft cloth for glass is sufficient to maintain the original shine and surface structure. No detailed technical data.
