■ THE HISTORY & DESIGN Is it still necessary to introduce it. Designed in 1965 by the brilliant Gae Aulenti, the Pipistrello lamp (bat) is one of the most iconic pieces of Italian design. With its large opaline lampshade featuring organic curves and its imposing black lacquered base, it instantly adds a touch of absolute sophistication to any room. Its telescopic stainless steel arm (duly signed by the designer) allows it to transform from a majestic table lamp to a true floor lamp. A sculptural and timeless piece. ■ TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Designer: Gae Aulenti. Publisher: Martinelli Luce (Italy) Model: Large model (the original size) Materials: Weighted black lacquered metal base, telescopic stainless steel arm, large opaline white methacrylate diffuser. Dimensions: Adjustable height from 66 to 86 cm|Lampshade diameter: 55 cm|Base diameter: 32 cm. Weight: Approximately 10 kg (evidence of its stability and the quality of materials). ■ CONDITION REPORT (Gallery Transparency) The electricity works perfectly and the telescopic mechanism slides smoothly. The large lampshade and the stainless steel arm are in very good condition. Please note (see photos): The black lacquered base has several dents related to its past life. However, almost all of these marks are located at the back of the base, near the electrical cable outlet. In practice, once the lamp is placed facing forward on your sideboard or coffee table, these defects are completely invisible! An ideal compromise to acquire this icon at a more affordable price. (Note: sold without bulbs, requires 4 standard E14 LED bulbs).
