Oil on panel, vase with flowers, gerolamo bolli (pisa 1933-2009)

Pier Luigi Buscemi, aka Girolamo Bolli (PISA 1933-2019). Frame size: 85 X 45 cm - panel: 65 X 30 cm. Born in Pisa in 1933, Bolli lived in the province of Pisa and in the Valdinievole. Self-taught, he had significant professional friendships and artistic influences, from Renato Guttuso to Renato Natali from Livorno, to the Pisan master Salvatore Pizzarello, and Mino Maccari. Among his most famous works is "Jesus Presented to the Crowd, " an oil on canvas painted in 1974, an imposing painting depicting the Passion of Christ, when he is insulted, pulled, and beaten before the Crucifixion, set against an ancient backdrop juxtaposed with a modern one.
