Grand Kotel Monumental Vintage Kilim - 303 x 207 cm

Exceptional monumental kilim originating from the prestigious weaving school of Kotel (Bulgaria). Measuring 303 X 207 cm, this masterpiece was acquired on 7 April 1993 and has been lovingly preserved in a condition close to new (museum quality). The composition unfolds a fascinating geometric visual shock. The central field, in a bright traditional red, is saturated with large multicoloured crenellated diamond medallions, known by the ancestral name of Kadryavi zvezdi (Curled Stars). Nestled at the very heart of the weave are the stylised silhouettes of small white birds, a rare and poetic signature detail, highly sought after by connoisseurs, which attests to the craftsmanship of the great master weavers. Technical characteristics: • Material: 100% pure local wool with regular and dense spinning. • Weaving: Extremely tight traditional flat weaving, heavy and fully reversible (the pattern is rigorously identical on both sides). • Finishes: The two rows of white fringes at the top and bottom are original, intact, and impeccably aligned.
