Old carafe 1900

This old carafe is made of crystal decorated with guilloché friezes. The pantogravure decor is elegant: a guilloché ornament of delicate garlands and stars. This guilloché technique was widespread in the 19th century and at the very beginning of the 20th century: the crystal was coated with wax and the decoration was drawn with a pantogravure needle in the wax, then the object was immersed in a bath of acid which attacks the bare crystal. In good condition, it measures 32 cm in height X 11.5 cm in diameter.
