Antique PORTIEUX carafe, Pasteur model, with Empire engraving, 1930

This superb antique carafe is made of blown and acid-etched glass. This pasteur model decanter is decorated with an acid-etched motif called "empire" with ribbon bows and flower garlands, in the empire style. This pasteur model is in the 1933 catalog. These acid-etched motifs were sought after at the beginning of the 20th century and many manufacturers, such as saint-louis, baccarat, portieux, had them in their catalogs. In good overall condition, it has scratches from use and a deposit on the bottom of the carafe. It measures 31 cm high X 11 cm. The stopper does not appear to be original but it fits well.
