Art Deco oak buffet – 1930s

Antique Art Deco oak sideboard from the 1930s, handcrafted restored. This sideboard features an oak front with geometric lines characteristic of Art Deco, with two doors and two drawers. The sculpted decorations, worked uprights, as well as the original handles and fittings have been preserved to maintain the character and authenticity of the piece. The sideboard has been completely hand-stripped and then sanded down to the raw wood to reveal and highlight its natural grain. The choice was made to keep the oak visible in its natural state, with its shades, variations in colour, and texture. The interior has been finished in a deep olive green, creating an elegant contrast with the natural oak while remaining in harmony with the spirit of the piece. Like all antique furniture, it retains some marks and irregularities related to its age and history. The back, in particular, shows some old marks, visible in the photographs of the listing. These are primarily aesthetic and do not affect the sturdiness or usability of the piece. A restoration that prioritises respect for the antique piece, its wood, and its history, rather than attempting to give it the appearance of new furniture.
