Oil painting on thick wooden panel: Beautiful 20th-century reproduction of the portrait of Marguerite Van Eyck created by her husband Jan VAN EYCK in the 15th century. The work is unsigned but executed by Henri BOURINET (see wax seal, handwritten note, and label on the back). Size 27 X 35 cm in a black wooden frame (7 cm wide X 4 cm thick). Rear attachment system absent. Slight vertical crack on the support wood of the painting from the right ear to the bottom of the painting (see photos); otherwise, general condition is very good, highly decorative. Copper plaque set at the bottom of the frame reads "Margriet Vrouw Johes Van Eyck 1439" (in Dutch: Marguerite wife of Jan Van Eyck). NOTE: The artist Henri Bourinet (1922 Indre / 2014 Pyrénées Orientales) studied at the Fine Arts schools of Reims and then Paris.
