Solid oak table with a central pedestal base and storage, made by Charles Dudouyt in the 1950s. France. Charles Dudouyt (1885–1946) was one of the great French furniture designers of the 1930s and 40s: he modernized the rustic style with sculpted volumes, exposed joinery, and geometric patterns. His furniture, often made of solid oak, prioritizes the material and the craftsmanship, eschewing superficial effects, for a straightforward and timeless elegance. In the 1950s, his workshop continued this formal approach, to which this table, with its strong and authentic character, belongs.
