Mid-Century Modern Ceramic Floor Vase by Sven Törngren, Törngren's pottery

This is a large mid-century modern ceramic floor vase designed by Sven Törngren and produced by Törngrens Krukmakeri in Falkenberg, Sweden. The vase features a sgraffito technique decoration depicting the paradise garden of Eden. Made of stoneware, it is partly glazed and measures 46 cm in height and 25 cm in width at its broadest point. The colors are brown and milky white. The pottery, established in 1789 by Hans Törngren, is the last remaining pottery from a once-thriving industry in Falkenberg. The vase is in good condition with wear consistent with age, including a hairline crack under the tree decoration and a small chip at the foot ring.
